2021.09.16 20:46 biglebowskiny Best Dolphins Reporter: Dave Hyde Gets My Vote

Dave Hyde in my opinion is the best. He has the most experience, is the most measured, and seems to have the most common sense about football players. Best of all, I like his modest demeanor.
Omar Kelly started getting political with the Jemele hill stuff and I was like, "can't I just read about sports please!". He also comes across like a real arrogant asshole.
I used to like Chris Perkins too - again, self deprecating and funny to listen too and I enjoyed his columns.

2021.09.16 20:46 noellarkin Workarounds For Problematic Sites

Some sites continue to be hard to work with when using PM or any of its forks. I've had issues in the past with Youtube, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter etc.
I thought it'd be useful to post some quick-n'-dirty workarounds for these sites, since any requests made in the PM forum is answered with "talk to the site devs".
I'll post a few of my workarounds, to get the ball rolling:

  1. Youtube
I use https://invidious.snopyta.org instead. It's faster than the Youtube.com frontend and also gives me options for downloading the video and/or audio.
I use the URL rewriter plugin to redirect youtube.com links to invidious. Download link for plugin here: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/url-rewrite
Here's an example of what a redirect rule looks like: (click on New Redirect)
Description: redirect youtube to inviduous
Example URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abcdefgh
Include Pattern: https://www.youtube.com/(.*)
Exclude Pattern:
Redirect To: https://invidious.snopyta.org/$1
Pattern Type: Regular Expression
Unescape Matches: Unchecked
Escape Matches: Unchecked
Enabled: Checked
(click "test pattern" to check if it's working, then save)
  1. Twitter
I use nitter.net as a Twitter alternative. For example, if you want to check out Elon Musk's twitter, the nitter URL is https://nitter.net/elonmusk
I like the RSS functionality of nitter.net - for example, you can use the feed URL https://nitter.net/elonmusk/rss with whatever feed reader you use (I use Feedly).
  1. Facebook
I personally haven't had issues with Facebook and PM, but maybe that's because I use it sparingly. One workaround I do know of, that works, is using https://m.facebook.com if the site is acting up on an older browser. m.facebook.com is the legacy mobile version, and works with pretty much every browser released since 2007.
  1. Pinterest
This is a strange one. It works in Pale Moon/MyPal etc but not on Basilisk/Centaury. Can't understand why.
That's all I can think of at the moment. There are a few more, will share in the comments as and when I come across different use cases.

2021.09.16 20:46 maskedposts kaiba team help

hi! I was looking to see if anyone can help me team build for kaiba. I might just not have what it takes to build him. I plan on pairing with a natsuru, so I’ve been focusing on finding Skill boosts and or equivalents. I’m not sure what else to be looking for on him. I think it should be combos and maybe rows. I understand that team building is very dependent on the dungeon you are taking on, but I’d like to assemble a general team. I’ve run into similar problems with building my hanekawa team.
here’s my blue box and the people I’ve picked out so far. Definitely think meris won’t work https://imgur.com/a/bmJfyh1

2021.09.16 20:46 Tirian1225 From Sub 700 to over 1000 ELO: How I Became An Average AoE3 Player

So when I first started on the ranked ladder I was getting my teeth kicked in and fell just below 700 ELO. I made it a goal to make it back to 1000 and last night I finally climbed my way to 1007 and it wasn't that easy. I see a lot of people asking questions and having discussions regarding lower ELO play so I wanted to post some general points that helped me get 300 points and a 55% win rate.

  1. Pick a Civilization- Probably the first thing to do is have a main and try your best to stick with it until you know a few build orders and their adaptability. I can't tell you how many times I have lost a couple of games and switched civs out of frustration just to lost a few more games. For me, I climbed with the United States but everyone is different. Learn other civs in skirmish until you're ready to bring them into ranked when you're comfortable.
  2. Blame Yourself- The great thing about 1v1 is that you really don't have too much else to blame but yourself for your loss in most cases. Go ahead and record your games and really think about what you could have done differently. Sure its frustrating but thinking about adaptability in your civilization to various strategies is important. Play on easy to make sure you get proper timings then up the difficulty to add pressure.
  3. One Trick Ponies are Dead Ponies- A lot of times people will master a specific build order with a specific unit composition and use that in every game. Its important to anticipate when to switch your unit compositions depending on your opponent, or even better, anticipate what they would be making so you can counter. The same with build orders in which you need to build multiple decks with variances to make sure you can switch up your build order in case your opponent does something unexpected such as if they turtle so you have to FI or maybe they rush and you have to then Semi-FF. Just don't get stuck.
  4. Macroeconomics- Basic things such as producing villagers, balancing resource production, herding, treasure hunting, and saving villager seconds are all things that can be practiced on and should be emphasized in your game play. A good measure is looking in your post-game and seeing the chart for idle villagers and villager count. Learning your hotkeys will help immensely in this regards as well as in the micro of combat such as a switching stances.
  5. Cheat at Cards- I find that a lot of people don't really look at their opponents decks in game even though this is important to getting an idea of what they may be going for and what counters they have. Of course its not always the case but it helps. This goes along with having a good idea of each civilization; their standard strategies, what their cards do, and their unique units and buildings. But nothing can really replace good scouting in-game to know exactly whats happening.
  6. Listen to Aussie Drongo, But Also Don't- I am a big fan of Aussie, FitzBro, and Widgie. Love the content. But remember that a single game on a YouTube video is not a good data set to prove a strategy. We also have to remember that the level of play is significantly higher in a lot of those games as well, so take everything with a grain of salt. They can be a good source of learning build orders and seeing good mechanics on display to emulate but it doesn't mean you should jump into ranked at 800 elo and expect to replicate similar results.
There are other things like: learn to use the hotkeys, don't be afraid to build on water, don't overextend your fights, know your unit counters etc...but the key thing is have fun. Be kind and encouraging to people online and just keep working at it. At the end of the day its a game to be enjoyed by all of us. Good luck and I hope it helps!

2021.09.16 20:46 uhsauh A font for tech branding & An often overlooked tip about content and engagement

Hi everyone! I work on a series called FontDiscovery. Every week I create a digestible visual guide about fonts, marketing, and design ideas to help founders and markers step up their marketing and get creative. This week, I share tips about a font perfect for tech branding, as well as often overlooked tip about content and engagement.
Font of the Week: Orbitron
Orbitron is a geometric sans serif inspired by fonts found on sci-fi graphics in US in the 60s-70s. It has post-apocalyptic inspirations with potential usage like spaceship exteriors. With its square traits, Orbitron communicates strength (in tech).
Why do I need this?
Orbitron is perfect for branding for tech companies. The bolder weights are perfect for marketing graphics. It also comes with style alternates for your designs. I would avoid using it for body copies since the square shape jumps out in paragraphs.
Design Idea: Size, Content, and Engagement
Digital marketing materials come in different sizes. Wrong size graphics get less engagement because people cannot access the information properly. This also goes for videos. Content that fills up the entire available space is better optimized for engagement. Once you have figured the size, you should put the important information in the center or a highly visible area so that your audience can easily digest it.
I share tips like this weekly, you can subscribe if you feel like. If you would like to read the original post with many visual examples and use cases, you can see it at fonts.substack.com.
